I rate on a letter grade scale that is generally an indication of how I would recommend the movie to others.
A+ You must see this movie. Kill to get a ticket. Buy the DVD when it comes out. A You must see this movie. It's almost as good as a film can get. A- Great movie with a flaw or two. B+ Good movie, very enjoyable to watch, a few flaws. B Good movie, fun watch, catch it if you've got time. B- Good movie, but probably has too many flaws. Might want to wait for the DVD instead of see it in the theater. C+ I usually reserve this for films that are fun to watch, but have potentially bad acting, effects, plot, etc. C Nothing special. Definitely wait for DVD. C- Watchable, might have a good moment or two, but don't watch it unless it just happens to be on. D+ Bad movie, very few redeeming qualities, but you can get through it. D Bad movie, you can watch it, but you probably wouldn't want to. D- Bad movie, you'll end up leaving or falling asleep. F Terrible movie. Don't rent the DVD, don't even look at the movie poster. Make your friends watch it. F- This is reserved for the worst of the worst. Usually I give this to a movie that is not only bad, but insults my intelligence, or was just not a good effort. Adam Sandler movies get this rating by default.
